Although by now it's January.. So, first of all: A very happy new year to you all!! :HappyNewYear:

I got tagged by :iconblack-rose-92: Here are my answers to the questions :)

DECEMBER TAG

PERSONAL SECTION

1. What's your name/ nickname if you prefer?
Aywen is my name on the web.

DA SECTION

1. How did you end on DA?

Back in the good old days of middle school I would sometimes "work" on the computers. I don't know how I found DeviantArt at first, but it was my favourite place to just browse and look at pretty pictures and get jealous of people who could draw waaay better than me! I created an account just to fave stuff at school so I could save it on my computer back home.

2. Do you still have the first deviation you posted in your gallery?

No, I can't even remember what it was.

3. Do you keep your old deviations as memories?

No, every once in a while I get the urge to clean up and throw away pretty much everything. My gallery is a mix of lots of things and sometimes I feel I should focus on one thing only. My hobbies change a bit too often for that though. I give up ;)

4. Would you favorite a well-made piece of art although you are not interested in that >topic/style< of art at all?
If I'm not at all interested, I'm unlikely to see it in the first place. But if something catches my interest then yes.

5. Do you think get feedback/watchers groups are useful?
Feedback is always useful and groups can be a nice way to "meet" new people. I follow a knitting and crocheting group and find it very inspiring at times. As long as you don't see too much of the same stuff.

ART SECTION

1. Do you have OCs?
Yes.

2. How many?
I couldn't possibly say. I have been writing stories since I could hold a pen, many characters come and many go, but some stay with me.

3. Do you do fanart?
Yes, but I'm less likely to share it. Depends what it is.

4. Do you think original art deserves more credit than fanart?
Depends what it is. On the whole I'd say yes, but fanart can be really good and very original too. There's a big difference between copying art and let a book or movie or person inspire you to create something new :)

MISCELLANEOUS SECTION

1. Do you watch anime?

No.

2. Do you read manga?
No.

3. Do you think you can be too old for these?
It's not a matter of being too old, it's just not my thing. I think the style is ugly and it annoys me, it always has.

4. Prefer movies or series?
Movies I guess.

5. Why?

I'm terrible at following series, I just can't get myself to do so. I rarely watch movies, too, but you can usually watch a movie without any background knowledge etc. Movie = 2 hours. Series = weeks? months? :faint:

6. Favorite book?

Oohh that's difficult! The Elenium trilogy by David Eddings is one of the series I've read several times, but there are many other books I enjoyed very much.

7. Favorite genre?
Fantasy.

I'm tagging: No one. I honestly wouldn't know who to tag. If you read this and think it's fun, go ahead and "tag" yourself! ;)

Things happen all the time. Some are good, many are bad. Bad things tend to linger in our memories. Bad things attract attention. Some of the best things are the small things in life: the scent of rain, of freshly mowed grass. A piece of fruit, chocolate sprinkles on your bread, a colourful pair of socks. Buttons, yarn and safety pins. Some of the things in life that make me happy. Simple, everyday things. But we rarely stand still to think about them: they are there, always were, always will be; they are normal. I'm not saying we should stand still and ponder about every piece of chocolate we eat. Let it be normal, let it be your every day routine. Just once in a while, it's good to think of all those little simple things and realize that you're happy. Let all the big bad things out there be for a while, focus on the here and now and be content with what you have. The world is burning down around us, but as long as there's air to breathe, we have to cope with it somehow.

I am happy with small and simple things, but I also have dreams. Big dreams. Things I want to see, things I want to do. Things I know never will happen, but one can dream. Dreaming is good. Dreaming is another way of coping with the big bad world around us. Or with life in general. What is the meaning of life when there's nothing left to dream about? I dream of a big house, a swing in the backyard, a huge comfy library, a cozy craft room and my very own ball pit. I'll never get over being too big for the one at IKEA! I also dream of going on tour with a metal band, perhaps starting my own band, though I'm not at all musically gifted and too shy to get on a stage. One can dream, right? And sometimes, dreams come true.

Here's one of my dreams that came true: I wrote a book and it's been published! It's titled 'Fido' and it's a bilingual children's book, Dutch and English, written and illustrated all by myself. Fido is a cute creature who is not a dog, and he wonders why. He finds out that dogs are all very different from one another. Why can't he be a dog, too? At first he is a little sad and confused, but then he realizes that it doesn't matter. Fido is himself and he's happy, that's all that matters. Eager to learn more about Fido? Visit my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/HetBoekjeFido. Currently in Dutch, but future posts will be bilingual. You can find a link to the publisher Boekscout, from where you can order the book. Keep your eyes out for more illustrations in the future, all new and the occasional sneak peek at the book. Fido is also on Goodreads: www.goodreads.com/book/show/25….

On the same line, one of my friends has been on the same adventure. :iconblack-rose-92: wrote a fantastic fantasy novel titled 'Fallen' and in honour of that achievement, she's currently holding an art raffle. Read more about her book and art raffle through the following links:
My own novel (+feature)My novel Fallen has been published and is now available in the Netherlands, Belgium and some other European countries through Boekscout (if you live in another country and you're interested, just note me)! I just thought I'd write a journal to tell you a bit of what the book's about and feature some of the wonderful artists who've created artwork based on characters from the novel.
What the book is about:
Fallen is the story of three unlikely heroes: a fallen angel, a grumpy heretic and a vastly powerful, but equally vastly inexperienced sorceress. The story is set in the world of Omnia, a grim place of witch trials, powerful magic, vile demons, rampaging angels and countless executions in the name of justice. Together these three heroes must overcome their differences and set out on a dangerous quest to obtain ancient and lost knowledge, forge a weapon capable of slaying gods and in the end assault the heavens themselves.

Last time I held a raffle I wanted to celebrate I had opened commissions, this time I want to celebrate that I've published my own book (read more here: My own novel (+feature))! La la la la Or maybe I just like holding raffles... :P Anyway, here are the rules:
Bullet; Green  What do I win?
FIRST PRIZE:
- A copy of my novel 'Fallen' (shipped to anywhere in the world)
- A postcard sized drawing or painting of any OC, creature or animal you desire (shipped with the book)
SECOND PRIZE:
- A drawing or painting of any OC, creature or animal you desire with a simple background (will be uploaded to my gallery for you to download)
THIRD PRIZE:
New A drawing or painting of any OC, creature or animal you desi

I'm still working on my book review (sorry for taking so long!) but I can tell you it's totally worth your time. It's an exiting read, with many things happening in a short span of time. The character grow quickly towards each other, but their initial mistrust leads to funny situations. Set in a dark world, though not a dark tale, it has its light-hearted, cute and fun moments, but lots of zombies, demons and bloodshed to keep things interesting. There're angels, elves, dwarves, sorcerers and even a dragon; Fallen has something to please everyone. Those of you who love reading and have a little money to spend, quickly head over to Boekscout and buy both of ours books!
